Episode 197 – Abuse in the church

This week we are discussing a topic I’d rather not discuss, but certainly is an important one that needs more exposure and light. While the church ought to be a place of healing, edification and encouragement not all churches provide an environment where that can happen. More and more we see victims coming forward exposing a dark underbelly of the church that we would like to believe doesn’t exist. The truth is there are toxic church environments where abuse and cover-ups abound. As Christians, we believe judgment starts with God’s people in God’s house. Our guest is victim advocate Michie DeBerry who tells us about his experience and what warn signs you should be looking for.
